Luckily, for the group, a promising singer who had tried out in the past became available during this time. Sue Mikes came by and played a couple times with Sift and was then offered the open spot. A three-song EP/demo was hastily thrown together for the purposes of introducing the new member and booking new shows.
After a few months writing, work was started on a new album. "Rains for Tyler" was recorded by Sift, mostly in their rehearsal space, and released in 2002 and mostly received good reviews.
Unfortunately, the band had to begin the search for a new singer soon after the album's release.
